Howdy Fiber Pals, hard to believe another weekend has FLOWN by! And, it was a busy one around here with lots of fibery goodness included. But, before I get into all of that, I want to announce the winner of the awesome spindle giveaway from Corn Creek Fiber….and our winner is Elaine who told us about her favorite season: “Fall is my favorite time of the year also. September 1 should be the beginning of the New Year not January 1. The little Cria is the cutest darling! Perhaps a beautiful spindle would encourage me to try spindling once more!!” Well, Elaine, a beautiful spindle is coming your way and I hope you will find your drop spindling groove!
In my own little corner of the spinning world, yesterday, I did a my own form of community service yesterday by spinning in public all day while at an Indian Artifact show that my significant other was attending. I’m sure many of you have had the experience of spinning somewhere other than at a fiber event and it is a lot of fun because what’s ordinary to us is anything but ordinary to other people. I have had this sweet batt from JazzTurtle Creations for awhile (“Elope”). I am spinning a lot of yarn in preparation for a weaving class I am taking in a couple of weeks. So, it was time to spin up “Elope”.
You see this wonderful family at left? This was a little treasure I scooped up in a box full of assorted scarves at a yard sale last year in Arkansas. It is some type of tea towel…Well, I have passed this along to one of my spinning buddies to see if she could spin it. Of course, I will surely show you the yarn once completed! This got me to thinking that there are probably a fair number of folks that read this blog that would be game, too. So, we’re starting something new: “Can You Spin This?” One weird/unusual/whacky item will be paired up with one adventurous spinner. We will show the before and after shots. If you want to be a spinner or a donator of the item to be spun, shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’m going to shoot for at least one unveiling a month.
Last but not least, if you want to be in the know with what’s happening behind the scenes with Spin Artiste, what’s coming up or just want a little extra fiber chitchat in your life, come on over to the Ravelry Group. We’re having lots of fun over there! Till next time, all my fibery best, Arlene
