Special Sunday Night Edition: Events and May Love

by The SpinArtiste on May 27, 2012

Happy Holiday Weekend to y’all!  I’m sitting here in the den on a rainy Sunday morning.  My choices for activities this morning are either write a blog post or clean…hmm…ok, write a blog post it is.

So, first up, there’s a couple of events I want to mention:

Spin U 2012 from Knit One, Spin Two.  Spin-U is being held at Hofstra University in New York this July. Heather Ordover, Lisa Grossman (the Tsock Tsarina), and Elizabeth Stover are all coming to teach.  There will bea a market open to the public as well.  Registration just opened this weekend!

It is so great to see events like this, Yarnival (being held in July also) in its second year, SWAY Guild’s Art Yarn Festival (held back in April) and Spin Quest (being held in August) popping up this year.  I’d like to think that means that interest in making and using hand spun yarns is on the rise.

And, for you readers across the Atlantic, Esther Rodgers of JazzTurtle Creations is teaching next month in Holland.  There are a few spots left.  You can find out more here.  I’ve taken several classes with Esther and can tell you it’s a great experience.

It’s also our favorite time of the year:  Fiber Festival Season!  If you are looking for some new festivals to check out or have never been to a fiber festival, scroll down to the botton of the Spin Artiste Learn page to get to the link of fiber festivals.

And, last but certainly not least, I’ve put some new faves up on the May Love page.  Enjoy!
