Special Sunday Night Edition: Happy Fuzzy Yarn Giveaway Winner, Spin Quest Update, July Love, and more!

by The SpinArtiste on July 29, 2012

Greetings Fiber Friends!

Hard to believe it is Sunday night already.  It has been another crazy busy weekend so blogging is the usual very early morning activity.  Yesterday we went out to the country to a massive community yard sale (150+ families).  I scored some great stuff for  upcoming fiber games and fun things for upcycled clothing projects for the fall.  I even completed the knitting on a piece where I’m adding a lot of free form crochet to the finishing.

Thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway for the batt from Riin Gill of Happy Fuzzy Yarn…the random generator has spoken and our winner is Elaine (whose colors were orange, fuschia, purple and a dab of lime green) !!!  Congratulations, Elaine.  I will be in touch with you via email to coordinate getting your beautiful batt from Riin.

Here’s  what’s happening with Spin Quest coming up in Front Royal, Virginia on August 25th. The vendors have been sending in their materials to be included in the kits and I’ve been blown away by how great the fibers are!! The kits are going to include 4 oz. of fibers from the vendors and there will be an assortment of what I’m calling “crazy packs” in my head — participants will get to select from a variety of challenging add-ins to incorporate into their yarns. Also, at the end of the day, participants will be voting on their favorite yarn of the day and I wish I could show you the prize that I have, but I must save that as a surprise. There is still room if you’d like to join us — we are going to have teachings from Melissa Yoder Ricks of Wild Hare Fiber Studio and Esther Rodgers of Jazz Turtle Creations. We have an incredible vendor line up which includes Avalon Springs Farm, Camel Shoppe, CompassioKnit, JazzTurtle Creations, Mada Vemi Alpacas, Picasso’s Moon Yarn Shop, Portland Fiber Gallery and Weaving Studio, Three Ravens, Unique Designs by Kathy, and Wild Hare Fiber Studio.  This is going to be a fabulous day filled with creative inspiration, fun, and wonderful fibers!!!

The July Love page is up for your viewing pleasure — no theme this month — just a few things that made it into my world this month that you might enjoy, too.

Recently a reader suggested that I add a page where all the Featured Artist interviews would be listed in one spot.  I thought this was a great idea so I put it together this week and added that information to the “Feature” tab.  I was actually very surprised at how many there are – 46!!  Fifty is not far away.  And, that is just scratching the surface of the many incredible artists out there to feature.

That’s all for now…see you in a few days with another Featured Artist post!  Until then, all my best, Arlene
