by The SpinArtiste on March 17, 2013

Hey Fiber Pals,

Another wonderful weekend is coming to a close but not without the announcement of the Readers’ Favorite for the Secret Stash Game, Round 5 — Wyoming Sunset designed by Linda Atkinson of SageRidge Mill and Critters.  This was a TOUGH competition.   Many of your commented on the quality of the entries where were truly amazing.   In the end, the Readers’ Favorite is “Peacock” by Lynn Milsom of Llamas in the Raw.  Lynn, you did an outstanding job!  Many folks commented on how you embraced the blue twine element and really made it work in your piece.

Pretty soon it will be time to send out the next round of kits.  Packages of fibery goodness have been coming in the mail from the sponsors.  This one is called the Ottoman Empire and it’s going to be a lot of fun as well.  There are two spots left so if you’ve got the urge to be part of the fun, please use the pay pal button below:

If you’ve been thinking about playing, jump in! This is the last one I’m going to be doing for awhile.

The Leather and Lace Challenge Yarn Collection has made its way down to Florida where it was on display at the Tropical Weaver’s Guild event over the weekend.  It’s making its way to Sarasota and Picasso’s Moon Yarn Shop in time for the SWAY guild Art Yarn Festival on April 20 – 21st where it will be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to charity.   We have also been working on a book featuring pictures of all the yarns accompanied by each artist’s statement and some reflections on the project and the artists by Debra Lambert and myself.  The books will be available for the first time at the festival.  We’ve been working pretty hard to pull everything together and I am so excited to be part of this project!

St. pattys dayIn my own little corner of the fiber world, my wishes have been granted and I have a spot to hang out and spin with like-minded spinners at Christiane Knight’s of Three Ravens new studio in the Hampden area of Baltimore, Maryland.  We had a great afternoon spinning and chatting.  Christiane’s new retail studio is a must go spot if you are traveling near the area!  And, since it is a holiday, I found just the perfect thing to wear…And, I am keeping this hat…It will not be going out for “Can You Spin This?”  Have a wonderful week — be back with you in a few day!  Arlene
