Special Sunday Night Edition: Yarnival Scrapbook and Winner of Spinner Chick Doll!

by The SpinArtiste on July 22, 2012

Friday night with Lexi

Yarnival…So..Much…Fun…

Honestly, I got a little distracted once things got going and didn’t complete some of my Spin Artiste reporting plans, but as you will see, I did capture some good stuff for you!

This year the event held at Boeger Winery included a costume party with music, fine Boeger wines, and the opening of the vendor area.  The vendors were open for business all weekend.  Saturday and Sunday were nicely punctuated with interesting lectures.  All weekend Lexi’s studio space was open and had been turned into a gallery showing works by featured artists.  Also, a lot of fun was had in the carding and spinning circle which was in the center of the vending area.  Below are my pictures — and of course, there are many more on Facebook from some of the other fine folks in attendance.

We did take some video Friday night of the vendor area, but I confess to having had a couple of Hangtown Coolers and well, the video didn’t come out all that well.  So, Sunday morning after the artists’ breakfast, I took a quiet stroll around with the flipshare camera and below is the result.  It’s a cute little video even if it is a little bit “Blair Witch” style.  Must. Get. Better. With.  Flipshare.

I did buy a few things:   a creepy clown mask from Soul Fibre Studio, beautiful batts from Oscar & Sophia, an amazing circle shrug from Wheel Star, and a comfy tee-shirt skirt from Picasso’s Moon Yarn shop…and an incredible hat from Girl with a Hook along with her 2011 collected works book.

Ahh…Yarnival…I miss you already…

Spin Artiste Readers, you did a good job at putting the pressure on Suzy Brown aka Wool Wench to visit us next year!  Per Suzy, she has started a penny jar to save for a trip in 2013.  For your efforts, one of you has been selected to receive Suzy’s Secret Stash Game, Round 3 Reader’s Favorite entry:  Spinner Chick.  Per the random number generator, our winner is Debra Lambert.  Congratulations Deb!  I will contact you via email to coordinate with Suzy to get Spinner Chick to you.

Well, friends, that wraps it up for tonight…see you on Thursday for a Featured Artist piece!!

Thank you so much for this video tour of the vendors. I was not able to attend this year, so it was a real treat to watch this. I was talking to my computer during the tour asking you to go into the felted booth….darn, didn’t get a good look. Maybe next time? Thanks again….it was fun!
